NEW ARRIVAL PROCEDURE & PATIENT FORMS

Due to COVID-19, our protocols have changed. We want to minimise waiting time and person-to-person contact within the practice and kindly ask:

  • All patients arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment,

  • Remain in your car,

  • Call reception once you arrive,

  • New Patients please complete NEW PATIENT FORMS,

Forms can be completed and submitted any time once you have booked your appointment.

 

CORONAVIRUS INFORMATION: 

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness where symptoms may include fever, cough or sore throat and difficulty breathing and can range in severity from very mild symptoms to pneumonia. Some people recover easily, others may get very sick very quickly. For more information click HERE.

HOW DO I PROTECT MYSELF?

1. Frequently CLEAN HANDS thoroughly with soap and water or by using alcohol-based hand rub. Avoid touching your face unless you have cleaned your hands.
2. When coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – throw the tissue away immediately and wash your hands.
3. Avoid close contact with anyone who has a fever and cough.
4. Seek early medical help if you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing.

MODERATE TO HIGH RISK PATIENTS

If you have recently travelled or been in contact with someone who has, and you have any symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath, please go to a COVID Clinic for testing. If your respiratory symptoms are severe, call an ambulance or present to your nearest Emergency Department. Call before entering the hospital waiting room.

WHERE DO I GET TESTED?

The Western Australia Department of Health has just released a statement that COVID-19 testing in WA will be available only to individuals who have a fever and/or respiratory symptoms such as shortness of breath, cough or sore throat AND documented evidence of:

  • Overseas travel in the last 14 days (for example, airline ticket or passport stamp) or

  • Close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case (provide name of case).

Testing is now extended to:

  • High risk settings as determined by a Public Health Unit.

    • Aged and residential care

    • Rural and remote Aboriginal communities

    • Detention centres

    • Correctional facilities

    • Boarding schools

    • Military barracks or equivalent

  • Health care staff.

  • WA police officers who are symptomatic.

  • Geographically localised areas with increased risk of community transmission, as determined by a Public Health Unit.

  • Cruise ship passengers who have disembarked in the previous 14 days.

  • Hospitalised patients with illness of unknown cause, at the discretion of the clinician.

All COVID-19 testing in the metropolitan area will be performed only at a COVID clinic – please see link above.

LOW TO MODERATE RISK PATIENTS

If you have NOT travelled NOR been in contact with someone who has but you have any symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath, please call the practice on 93704200 before attending so that we can triage you effectively.

GP After Hours Mount Lawley is a community based, privately owned after hours clinic.

We have proudly been servicing our patients for over 19 years (previously located at SJOG Hospital Mt Lawley) and our aim is to offer a quality service with comprehensive medical care for when your regular GP practice is closed.

Our dedicated doctors and trained staff are committed to providing prompt treatment in a caring environment. All of our doctors are vocationally registered specialist GPs and come with many years of experience.

GP After Hours Mount Lawley utilises a mixed booking system. You can make an appointment online by selecting the ‘BOOK AN APPOINTMENT’ link above. Phone bookings can be made from 10am, 7 days a week.* (*Hours may vary on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve subject to doctor availability. Please refer to our Facebook page or call the practice).

Accreditation

GP After Hours, Mount Lawley, is proud to have once again successfully achieved full accreditation by an independent organisation that assesses quality and standards in General Practice.

Accreditation acknowledges that GP After Hours Mount Lawley, achieves a high quality and meets the standards set out by RACGP in regards to its medical care, staff, facilities, standards and management.

  • Prescriptions

    The doctors at GP After Hours Mount Lawley can prescribe all medications except for Schedule 8 drugs. You must see your regular GP for this or go to your nearest emergency department.

  • X-rays

    The x-ray facility we use is located offsite. The turn around time is approximately 1 hour and the x-ray is bulk billed. Please call before attending to determine if there is sufficient time available.

  • Pathology Testing

    There may be additional costs associated with these services. They are not from ourselves but from the pathology companies and will be billed by them at a later date.

  • Vaccines

    All vaccines are available, including travel vaccines. We strongly recommend that all routine Childhood Immunisations be done by your regular GP where a Practice Nurse is also present.

  • Motor Vehicle & Workers Compensation

    As we are an After Hours clinic, these accounts must be settled at the visit and then claimed by the patient from the respective company.

  • Mental Health Care Plans

    Only where the patient does not have a regular GP or where the After Hours Doctor determines that it is necessary for the patient’s wellbeing.
